I've been working on getting the centre portion of Make Your Point all sewn together, and ready for the multiple borders this quilt requires. So far, I have 3 out of 4 sections pieced together. The last one will be done today, I hope, and then I can begin with the borders. I am liking the way this one is looking. I want to keep going on this, and get it finished, but I am seriously being distracted by the latest
Bonnie Hunter Orca Bay mystery quilt. I have lots of leftover blacks and neutrals sitting on my cutting table that are yelling their pretty selves silly. They talked me into measuring them yesterday, to see if there were enough of them, and to see how many of the itty bitty quarter square triangles I could get across the width of a fat quarter. I figured any where from 10 to 12 across, so I have enough. But I'm not sure I really want to start this, but I suspect I'm going to be drawn in. It's not as if I have any other plans for these fabrics. They are just sitting on the top of my cutting table, taking up space, getting moved from one spot to another as I work on other things. They need to be used, don't they? I think I'm in trouble....................

ReplyDeleteMy collection of four-patch leader-ender blocks is growing steadily. In about, say, a year, this quilt will likely be on my list. I am marking it in the meanwhile. Thanks for the inspiration.

Of course you want to turn those extra scraps into the first step of Orca Bay. Using up scraps isn't the same as starting a new project, it is really more like finishing off the last one. Almost virtuous when you think of it that way.

ReplyDeleteOh that is a beautiful quilt!! Amazing. I know what you mean about the mystery, but you know they say it all the time, it's not a race. You'll get it done in your own time. Judging by the scrap quilt you just put together, you must have some wonderful scraps for Orca Bay!

ReplyDeleteI'm fighting off temptation on Orca Bay, too. So far, I've just printed out the instructions. What I've seen of progress so far, it's going to be so pretty!!
