I was reading one of the blogs I follow,
Kathy's Quilts, a lo and behold, in her post was a listing of some of the free quilting projects that are available out in blogland. I made the mistake of checking it out, and found another project that I have fallen in love with. It is called
Promises and Borders. Now, there is only one snag, well, more than one, but the biggest is that it is embroidered, and I'm not a huge fan of embroidery. But, if I can figure out a way to do it that doesn't involve embroidery........... Maybe permanent fabric markers? Maybe the coloured pencil faux applique I was playing with, combined with markers for the lettering and the narrow lines?
This picture is from the blog
Jenny of Elefantz, the designer of this particular BOM. There has to be a way to adapt this from embroidery to something else, because I love it. Hmmmmmmm.................
Any ideas anyone?
I had to take a look at the freebies list...just in case there was something out there I missed! I haven't tackled embroidery of this nature but I sure have seen a lot of cute patterns.
ReplyDeleteI saw this one too, Cathy, and downloaded the first one as well. And it's funny, but I was thinking of doing the faux thing with the border stuff and embroidering the words...that wouldn't be too hard would it? LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteDangerous blog-hopping is right! I had to check out that site, and then it just made sense to sign up to follow her blog, and also to print the pattern for the first block...
ReplyDeleteARGH!!!! Oh well, printing the one page doesn't commit me to making all of the blocks or the final project - quilt? wall-hanging? whatever.....
Sorry I don't have any advice for adapting the block....
