Stash and Sunday Stitching Report

There was lots of stitching done this past week while we were away visiting Noel and Laurie and Avery. Noel's stocking is almost completely finished. Just some holly leaves and berries to put on the top corners and I can call it done. WOOHOO!!! I just might make the goal of having all 4 of them finished by this Christmas.

There are a set of tree ornaments that go with this stocking that I might start next. Hopefully, those will get done so that I can put them into the stocking.
For the stash report, I got a little sewing done this week, before we left, and then after we came home that added to the used numbers a little bit.

 Used this week:                                               .6 yards
Used this year:                                              73.3 yards
Added this week:                                                0 yards
Added this year:                                          133.05 yards
Balance:                                                          59.75 more yards in than out.

I'm linking up to Judy's Stash Report at Patchwork Times and also to Slow Sunday Stitching at Kathy's Quilts. For the rest of the day, I have to work at 3, but before then, I'm not sure if I'll be doing some sewing, or if we'll be going over to Matt and Becca's new house to give them a hand with unpacking.

Stash Report and Stitchery Sunday.

It sure doesn't look like there has been a whole lot accomplished on this stocking. Just the train and the little house. But looks are very deceiving here.
That train alone has 16 little teeny tiny pieces! And the little doll that is next to do has 20 little teeny tiny pieces!! I think I need my head examined. LOL!! But, I'm still enjoying doing these, so it can't be all that bad. I'm taking this with me when we go away this week, so hopefully it will be done by this time next week.
As for the stash report, it has been a fabulous 2 weeks for usage, which is a good thing, because I had a small amount (ahem........  really, just a small addition, really.......) come in, as well. Look at all those glorious colours!! They were impossible to resist. The light colour in the center of all those fat quarters in going to be the background for an autumn leaves quilt. I know I'm rushing the season, just a bit, and I'm no where ready for summer to be over. But, come this September or October, I'm hoping to be sewing all kinds of lovely leaves.

Used in the past 2 weeks:                                 10.2 yards
Used this year:                                                  72.7 yards
Added in the past 2 weeks:                               15.8 yards
Added this year:                                             133.05 yards

Balance:                                                           60.35 more yards in than out.
I'm linking up to Judy's Stash report at Patchwork Times And Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching. And now, I really should put down the computer, finish my coffee and finish getting packed up for our trip up to see Noel and Laurie and Avery. We're heading up today, and coming back home on Friday. I'm totally looking forward to it. Enjoying the beauty of God's creation, and the joy of being with family. Ah bliss........

Stash and Sunday Stitching Report

I managed to get a lot done this past week on Noel's stocking for this coming Christmas. All that is left to do on it is the small toys that are dimensional.

These are turning out to be so much fun to do. I'm glad I saw This post of Debbie's  where she reveals her Christmas stocking collection. It got my brain working, and inspired to do some of my own. Although there is no way I'll end up with as many as she has. But I should be able to meet my goal of having 4 of them done, plus the ornaments.

And then there is the stash report.  Not mush use to report this past week, since most of what I'm using has been already counted as cut. But my in numbers have gone up, which was a lot of fun.

Used this week:                                           .4 yards
Used this year:                                         62.5 yards
Purchased this week:                                    8 yards
Purchased this year:                              117.25 yards
Balance:                                                  54.75 more yards in than out. And this number is going to go up even more in the next week or so, once an order from Thousands of Bolts comes in. It started out as an order for some backing, and sort of grew from there into an order full of Autumn themed colours. There is a colour that I see every year in farmer's fields, that wonderful gold colour of ripening wheat and hay. I have always wanted to do a quilt using that colour, and I think this may be the year for it. That wonderful gold colour as the background for lots of wonderful leaves. I'll take pics when they come. I'm linking up to Judy Laquidara's Stash report and Kathy's Quilts Slow Sunday Stitching.

Stash Report Week 30, 2012 and Sunday stitching.

There has been progress in both areas..... stash and stitching. I like these Sunday stitching reports. They give another avenue of incentive to get some work done from week to week. We discovered a really, really good TV series this past week, called Downton Abbey. Scott had purchased the first season, and it was so good we watched it in a marathon last Sunday. We finished the last episode at about 8 pm, and Scott got up, and went right out to the store to pick up season 2, which we also ended up watching in another marathon over that same evening and then on Monday. It's amazing the amount of stitching that can be accomplished while watching a full year's worth of a TV series. LOL! There are about 150 pieces in this stocking, and I put #63 on last night, so it is almost halfway done. I think the rest of it is all the little toys.

For the stash report, I cut a lot for the July UFO, so there is yardage used.

Used this week:                                   4.4 yards
Used this year:                                  62.1 yards
Purchased this week:                             0 yards
Purchased this year:                     109.25 yards
Balance:                                               47.15 more yards in than out.
It is quite possible that my purchased numbers are going to go up this week. I've been invited to a "fabric party", kind of like a quilter's version of a tupperware party, but a whole lot more fun buying fabric rather than plastic. LOL!!

Sunday Stash Week 29, 2012 and Stitchery report

I'm joining in with a fairly new linky party hosted by Kathy. This is the 4th week, and it shows what different hand projects we are working on. So I thought this would be a good opportunity to show the progress week by week on the Christmas stockings I'm doing for our adult children. While we were away in Algonquin a week ago, I finished up Rebecca's manger scene stocking.

And then there was still time to get a start on Noel's Santa's Workshop stocking. This one is going to be really challenging. It has a lot of 3 dimensional toys on it, which should be a lot of fun to do. I love the way the window looks. Having the linky party each week will give me incentive to work on them, beyond the fact that I want to get all 4 of them done by Christmas. However, when I get to Laurie's, I won't be able to show pictures of it, because she reads my blog, and I don't want to ruin the surprise of it.

I have some good stash numbers this week. I finished up a quilt top on my Friday afternoon and night sew-in, so I can count those numbers now. I usually count as I cut, but I forgot to write the numbers down as I was cutting this time, so it is a finished quilt to report this week. I'll put up pictures of it tomorrow.

Used this week:                               6.3 yards
Used this year:                              57.7 yards
Purchased this week:                         0 yards
Purchased this year:                  109.25 yards
Balance:                                   51.55 more  yards in than out.

I'm happy that the used numbers are starting to go up. It gives a good feeling of getting something accomplished. I'm linking up to Judy's Stash report at Patchwork Times.

On a sadder note, Scott's brother is back in hospital with a pretty severe case of pneumonia, and he doesn't have a lot of strength left with which to fight it. So, we are waiting to see what happens there, knowing that it is all in God's hands.

This time change screws me up.......

And I'm sure I'm not the only one. I was useless yesterday. My brain was mush, and filled with fog, and my body refused to do anything but veg. I was exhausted. And to top it off, once I gladly hit my bed last night, I couldn't sleep. It was past 4 am before I finally fell asleep. Grrrrr....... I had a migraine, that despite taking Advil, and 2 of my Maxalts, simply would not go away, which was a large part of being awake until 4 am. But I am glad to say it was gone when I woke up. I love having that extra hour of daylight at the end of the day, but there sure is a high price to pay for it.
On the good side, while I was sitting and watching TV yesterday, (I revisited the movie "The Colour Purple"), I got a lot done on Matt's stocking. It is now well over halfway done.
I think the next steps involve the golf bag and clubs, which will be time consuming, great stuff to do for those blah, and can't move or do anything else days. I am really hoping today won't be one of those. I have lots of stuff I want, and need to get done. Maybe if I have another coffee. Even though I didn't get to sleep till past 4, I managed to sleep until 12:30, so  did eventually get my 8 hours, but that sure does eat up the usable part of the day. Anyway, maybe I'll take it easy for today as well, and just work on New York Beauties, and simple sampler blocks. Yep, that sounds like a plan. I'll have to see if I can actually do it. LOL

Saturday Summary

This past week has been spent primarily getting Make Your Point done. I've been doing some sewing on a new project, as well. More about that on Monday for the design wall. And, I had plans, great plans for what I was going to do yesterday. I was going to start working on some sampler blocks. I was going to do more on a new quilt I've started. I was going to load the second of Christine's quilts. And none of it happened. I hit the proverbial wall, bounced off, and landed in my comfy recliner chair, and there I stayed. My body told me to stay put, and I reluctantly listened, mostly because I have learned over the years of living with fibromyalgia, that if I don't listen, I really badly pay for it. And, since I have to work at the hospital for the next 4 evenings, I can't afford to have it get any worse.
But, the good news is, that as I was enjoying a Shrek marathon, I got a lot done on the Christmas stocking I'm working on. I must say that, when I started doing these, I had no idea how detailed they are, and how long some of the components take. That golf club he has in his hand, and over his shoulder took one full movie to make up. It has a pipe cleaner down the middle of it, so it is 3 dimensional, and bendable. But, he is soooooooo cute. I'm glad he finally has a head and face. This is really fun to do. Did I mention before that I may be hooked???
I'm going to see if my body will cooperate with a little cutting and sewing before work. If not, Mr Snowman here will be getting more done on him.

Saturday Summary

I have had the BEST week, well, except for not being able to go and visit Noel and Laurie and little Avery. The last time we went up to see them in January, the drive home was just a tad nerve wracking, since we ran into closed roads and blowing snow and a snowstorm. So we decided that we wouldn't risk it again this winter, which makes me kinda sad. I'm hoping for a Skype visit sometime today or tomorrow. But I've had all this past week off, and don't have to go back to work again until Thursday, so I had lots of time to sew and quilt.
The big accomplishment, of course, was getting RRCB finished. But in between that I've been doing other things as well. I loaded Make Your Point onto the longarm, and have gotten a start at quilting her. I had originally planned on doing the feathers through the whole quilt, but once I did one pass with them, I decided not to. First because they are quite time consuming, and second, because I think I would have lost the effect of the piecing. So I've decided to alternate the rows, one with the feathers, and the other with continuous curves. I'm liking the way it is looking.
The other things I've been working on lately, is a few customer quilts. This one is a lap sized that Christine did for her Nana. I had to do an overall feather meander on it, since that's what the quilt told me it wanted. And I'm becoming rather addicted to doing them. If you click on the pictures and biggie size them the quilting shows up better. I have a backlog of customer quilts up there, which are on my to-do list after Make Your Point comes off. When doing the customer quilts, I schedule one of my own after doing 4 or 5 of theirs. I have a really bad habit of forgetting to take pictures of theirs, though. I really am going to have to start being more conscious of that
Then yesterday, I sat at my machine for most of the day and finished piecing the rest of the Dresden plates for the  Bunny Hill Scrappy PlatesAll of the plates are now done, and I have the centers cut out, and ready to have their edges finished and appliqued in place. That's likely what I'll be doing this afternoon, until we go over to Matt and Becca's for supper. It's kinda strange, we all live in the same city, but still hardly get to see them very often. I think we might have seen more of Noel and Laurie this winter, who live 4 hours away, than we have of Matt and Becca.
And finally, I've been working on one of the stocking kits from Bucilla. This is the Golfing Snowman one for Matt. I chose this one to start with, as it had the smallest number of pieces, and also the smallest number of little bitty pieces. I am having a considerable amount of fun doing it. I think I might be hooked.  And it's all Debbie's fault. She showed some pictures of her collection here. And then she did a series showing the steps in actually making one and one of those posts is here. I have 4 of these to do, with a fifth as a possibility, although I haven't ordered it yet. I also have several ornament kits, as well. These have replaced the knitting I was doing for a while, although I'm sure at some point, I'll get back to it. And now, to go and work on Dredsen Plates. So much fun.
