Then, I found a round robin quilt that I had participated in at least 8 years ago. I loved it, except for one of the borders that was very poorly sewn. There were a lot of places in that particular section where the seams didn't even get sewn together properly, and only one of the seams was actually sewn, so, I ended up ripping out that border, and so it sat, waiting for the perfect fabric border to put back in. While Susan was here, we went to Len's Mills to get some binding fabric for her quilt, and spent some time browsing the shelves. I found the perfect fabric to fill that space, perfect size, colours and theme to go with that round robin quilt. So, my "Robin in the Window" is done, and ready for quilting. And, lastly, my One Block Wonder is done.

Finishes
As I mentioned in an earlier post, having Susan here visiting inspired me to finish a few projects that have been lying around here, one of them, for at least 8 years. I got caught up on my blocks for the BOM sponsored by Shannon at The Pieceful Kwilter . I finished the quilt top from the Burning the Midnight Oil

Design wall Monday March 22
I'm a little late posting today, but I've been working on the star blocks for this BOM I'm doing. It's by Burning the Midnight Oil, which is in my blog list. I'm actually working on next month's blocks. This month's were the chain squares. But, I really like this quilt, and would like to get it into the finished category. Right now, the green in the star block is looking rather out of place, but I think it will be better when the other 3 are done. At least, I hope it will.

Design wall Monday March 1
On my design wall today is my continuing work on "Cactus Rose". She's to the point of hand work, so she's coming off the wall today. Replacing her, is a block of the month I'm doing from the website Burning the Midnight Oil. The link is in the blogs that I follow, if you are interested. There isn't going to be a whole lot of quilting going on in the next few days, though. Nicole, Rebecca's Maid of Honour, is coming today so that I can get her measurements, and get started on her dress.

Warm and cozy
It's another cold and snowy day in Southern Ontario, but all is warm and cozy inside. We had a wood burning insert put into our fireplace back in September, and it has been wonderful. It's a good day for a fire, an olympic hockey game, (this from someone who ordinarily hates watching hockey), and making progress on one of the BOM's I'm doing. There are 4 of these basket blocks needed, and they are a bit of a challenge. The finished size of the block is 12 inches, and, since it is a five patch, which doesn't easily divide into 12, the measurements and sewing are tricky.
(Don't worry, Susan, we'll do this one when you are here this summer). So, I'm hoping to get the other 3 done today, and maybe sneak ahead into the next month. Nicole, Rebecca's Maid of Honour, is coming on Monday to get measured, so I have until then to play, before I have to get back into doing the dresses. Samantha hasn't been able to get over for a fitting yet, so I can't do anything more on the one that is almost done. I have cinnamon pastry coffee in my large thermos cup, Hillsong playing music, and my sewing machine calling my name, asking me to come back and play some more. I think I'l go play.

One BOM centre done
As I'm pondering what fabrics to use for the dancing jonquils of the pieceful kwilter BOM, I thought I'd put together the centre blocks for the other BOM i'm doing. It's from http://burningthemidnightoilquilts.com/block-of-the-month-quilt/. Here's the pic of the blocks. I still have to stitch them down, but they are firmly fused. It is a lovely quilt, and I'm looking forward to getting it from one step to the next. I've even talked my dearest friend, who lives in St Albert, Alberta, which is just outside of Edmonton, into doing this one with me. A long distance sew-a-long.

Dangerous Blog hopping
OK, so I've decided that I've found another project I just have to do. The Pieceful Kwilter has a lovely block of the month going. Absolutely beautiful. How much more can just one block a month add? I can do that. Does it sound like I'm trying to talk myself into it? YEP!!! The project started in November, so I'll just have to sit down and do those 2 blocks, and then follow along. I'm also doing the BOM from the midnight oil site. So much fun. Woohoo. And, to top it off, the quilting on my daughter's wedding quilt is done. Now, for burying all the threads, and doing the binding. A good day's work
