Leo’s Mane Sew Along

What I did today.......

After I wrote this afternoon's design wall monday post, I went into the kitchen and, other than for very short periods of time, spent up until now in there. But man oh man, does the house smell wonderful!!! In our continuing pursuit of economy, I decided to put our bread machine to work. There are 2 loaves of white bread, twelve multigrain rolls, and 6 focaccia rolls made from this recipe here. I couldn't believe how easy that recipe is!! Mix it together the night before, and let it sit for 16 to 18 hours, during which time it rises. Divide it up the next day into rolls, let them rise and bake. So very, very simple, and the instructions, and the pictures that go with them are so easy to follow. And they taste so good, which is why there are only 5 rolls in the picture, instead of 6. We had to try one. It is definitely a keeper recipe
One of the loaves is left out for our use and the other is in the freezer. I separated the 12 grain rolls into packages of 4, so that we aren't taking out more at a time than we'll use, since there are no preservatives in this bread, so it goes mouldy faster. I am loving having a freezer again.

  3. I am glad you tried the focaccia bun recipe. It is sooo simple and my family loves them. Once I started making these buns I really did not need to buy buns from the store anymore - they really are that good and that easy to make.

  4. Cathy this looks wonderful ... I swear I can smell the aroma of fresh baked bread coming through the computer! LOL! I'm going to forward Kim that recipe -- I gave her my bread machine when we moved into the RV. And I'm glad you're enjoying your freezer, too!!! Have you ever tried taking your dough and freezing it in 1" balls (before the second rise) so you've got yeast rolls at the ready? Thaw, put 2 together in a greased cupcake pan, allow to rise, and voila! :)

  6. I don't use my bread machine very often - my waist and hips showed every slice...
Now, those focaccia rolls look wonderful - guess what I'll be trying soon! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

I love reading all your comments, and am grateful for each one. I try very hard to answer them all, but lately I haven’t quite been able to answer all of them.
