Slow Sunday Stitching

I’m working on a couple of hand stitching projects at the same time. No surprise there. The embroidery continues and I also got sucked in to a mystery knit along by the designer Casapinka. I have done at least a couple of  her sweater designs and loved them so when I saw that she was doing a mystery shawl knit along I jumped in. I dug around in my stash of fingering weight yarn and came up with four colours that contrast quite nicely with each other. The clues to the mystery come out weekly. I’m a week behind, but that’s ok. It’s quite a lot of fun. Each clue section is presented as if written by her cat so there are quite a few giggles interspersed with the knitting. It’s a 6 week knit along and I’m just starting on the 3rd week.

I have almost finished the last bit of the embroidery for the last row of the centre of my version of Summer Kitchen. This will go at the top where the original design had the embroidered tea towels.

Here’s a couple of close ups.

These were colouring pages found on various free sites on the internet.

Once the last bit of the tea pot and creamer are done I will get tracing and colouring on the blocks that go in the border. I need one more fabric for actually sewing this all together. I’m hoping that I might make it out to a store sometime this week to pick something out.

Slow Sunday Stitching

I have finished up all the tea cups for my version of Summer Kitchen. I am keeping the layout of the original version but am replacing a lot of the graphics they used with things that mean something to me. The long swag of tea cups is done. And so are the last two of the four tea cups with flowers.

The last section to do is the top where I am going to be doing a series of baking pictures using free colouring pages that I found on pinterest. I’ve got the printed and arranged to the size and place I want them. But I still need to get the fabric prepared to the right size and the the designs traced and coloured. That is this afternoon’s job I think.

Slow Sunday Stitching

Last week I finished off the row of cupcakes for my Summer Kitchen quilt. Immediately after that I got to work tracing out and starting in on the tea cups. I continue to be amazed at a couple of things with this project - how much I am enjoying the process anyhow quickly  they stitch up.  I have 2 out of 4 tea cups done: a cup of pansies.

And I think these look like phlox.

I have 2 more of these little floral arrangement cups to do. They  will eventually get trimmed down and framed with fabrics before being sewn into the quilt. In the meantime there is also another row that will measure 5 inches by 48 inches that needs to be done. I found a free vintage embroidery design that also features tea cups which I think fits quite well with what  I am planning for the over all look of this quilt. There are 5 cups across this section. The cups are all the same design but are different colours. This is what it looked like when I finished colouring it but before any of the stitching went in. And here’s a close up of the first section finished.

I’m going to link up with Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching and then get back to more slow stitching.

Slow Sunday Stitching.

I’m almost finished with the cupcake row. I have a little bit left to do on the cupcake paper on the last one. After that I have to do across the ground line and it will be done. I’ve taken the picture showing groups of four which makes it easier to see them.

These have been a lot of fun to do.

For the next section I’ve been searching around on the internet for free designs add to this quilt. I have found some vintage tea cups with flowers in them which I think I will do next. Here’s one of them.    It will be done in a 6 inch square. Once I finish the row of cupcakes I’ll trace out and colour in the cups and flowers. I think there will be four different cup and flower designs.

Slow Sunday Stitching

My embroidery obsession continues.I have almost finished as much of the cherry pie picture as I can do.  I needed to order thread to do the pastry.

The tracking info says it won’t be here until Tuesday. That meant I needed to get another one ready. I am doing my version of the Crabapple Hill Summer Kitchen. I’m replacing some of their blocks for my own. I found a fabulous colouring page of cupcakes. I cut them up and enlarged them to the size I want them to be. They are each about 3 3/4 inches tall. This is the first 3 of the row started.

I decided they would be vanilla cupcakes with different frosting treatments. The row when it is pieced into the quilt will be 5 inches by 48 inches. Here they are all coloured and ready for stitching.

It’s hard to get a good picture of them all in a row. So much fun! I’m linking to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching
