I’ve separated off the sleeves and have about 2 inches of the body done. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAGwszGs9s0HcQUcGC7SmMe8z38XzdmnIH2eY8l8vcLSsemkggOQAkbnsT9FPfcWUIbOUClzZMB1WeCSUBwQIesPLjTKXIsPm9XEWYTtY3IxlNzh3EAAJPqIlbZYdCZ7ChoTRUFpMTUPdZ6uJGiiP5amjYqgJluIxlg8vLpQOF77jFPb7bmOvJA_jZCBQn/s3654/IMG_1925.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2733" data-original-width="3654" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAGwszGs9s0HcQUcGC7SmMe8z38XzdmnIH2eY8l8vcLSsemkggOQAkbnsT9FPfcWUIbOUClzZMB1WeCSUBwQIesPLjTKXIsPm9XEWYTtY3IxlNzh3EAAJPqIlbZYdCZ7ChoTRUFpMTUPdZ6uJGiiP5amjYqgJluIxlg8vLpQOF77jFPb7bmOvJA_jZCBQn/s320/IMG_1925.jpeg" width="320" /></a>But the really exciting piece of slow stitching is the start of the background quilting on My Tweets. It is going faster than I thought it would. The amount here was done in an afternoon. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4CRxX0j-trU5b6tMHoFpxrdWhGvBdM-_QN1iCzaZyUcT2hSK_8bC6Pyo_9-mGC9UJ3WI4XvMZCgDGanVmuC55q14L4YjTKjYthguDCKtlR4IhCfjufdGBr3cO7Pv2YjclShuwXaChS6-21dDdIvEsXDAY725XRX3ttfQU-DySR7x2Pv3cxermtwogXY_z/s4032/IMG_1926.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4CRxX0j-trU5b6tMHoFpxrdWhGvBdM-_QN1iCzaZyUcT2hSK_8bC6Pyo_9-mGC9UJ3WI4XvMZCgDGanVmuC55q14L4YjTKjYthguDCKtlR4IhCfjufdGBr3cO7Pv2YjclShuwXaChS6-21dDdIvEsXDAY725XRX3ttfQU-DySR7x2Pv3cxermtwogXY_z/w400-h300/IMG_1926.jpeg" width="400" /></a>I don’t have any calluses built up on my fingers yet, so I had to quit as the finger under the quilt was getting quite sore, as was my wrist. I haven’t been able to get back to it, due to our grand daughter being off for March break and also the now almost finished reno of my room. The ceiling is in and the baseboards are going in today. There is still all the tapeing and mudding and sanding of the drywall seams in the ceiling, but I suspect that is not going to happen for quite a while yet.</p><p>I’ll link up to Kathy's<a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2024/03/slow-sunday-stitching_021451573.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-30762067619669228852024-03-10T13:04:00.002-04:002024-03-10T13:04:37.298-04:00Slow Sunday Stitching<p> Most of my slow stitching this past week has been knitting. I’m making really good progress on my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/walk-along">Walk Along</a> T-shirt/sweater. The helical knitting technique that blends the two different skeins of yarn is working beautifully. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx-bQkrFiGb7mcET7TY9wmX0Fr5LbS7X89134sboy-SOvn1Y6KodOCqp3guX4WQ0ZP1ksLuT_p_pZs6jllyqxWQfX55vlmA4uxjIUujBroZrBTl7hpOkmLWShqMWgcXHQmYc0rXI39OAjNm-PiCroAH63O9G_pk9LXqe9sZYedzrviR6xErhKTGidAYZPx/s4032/IMG_1919.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx-bQkrFiGb7mcET7TY9wmX0Fr5LbS7X89134sboy-SOvn1Y6KodOCqp3guX4WQ0ZP1ksLuT_p_pZs6jllyqxWQfX55vlmA4uxjIUujBroZrBTl7hpOkmLWShqMWgcXHQmYc0rXI39OAjNm-PiCroAH63O9G_pk9LXqe9sZYedzrviR6xErhKTGidAYZPx/w400-h300/IMG_1919.jpeg" width="400" /></a>It’s not even noticeable that the light colours are two different yarns in there. They are close enough in colours that they blend quite nicely. I am getting so close to the dividing point of taking the sleeve stitches off the needles. After that it will go even faster.</p><p>I also have taken just a few hand quilting stitches into My Tweets.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0QKHI0ARFvbM4jMBxN69j9LzqDUZua-tP9Egbq7wOCn42c6GCfxx2DwnLsWOFLQ2mWBEY6cofkW_biYxOLGqy6hX3cmPBsArlThu5THdFsUZFQmVFrIc71PAt4fIQtTAdu7iNFaT4ToOHmpGEXKJaRCq1r6bMzR_ZgoBHMVHEcL90atXXVdFbwyW35gbt/s4032/IMG_1912.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0QKHI0ARFvbM4jMBxN69j9LzqDUZua-tP9Egbq7wOCn42c6GCfxx2DwnLsWOFLQ2mWBEY6cofkW_biYxOLGqy6hX3cmPBsArlThu5THdFsUZFQmVFrIc71PAt4fIQtTAdu7iNFaT4ToOHmpGEXKJaRCq1r6bMzR_ZgoBHMVHEcL90atXXVdFbwyW35gbt/w400-h300/IMG_1912.HEIC" width="400" /></a> It is in a new hoop and stand that is quite comfortable to use. I’m still trying to decide what I am going to do in the backgrounds. I have a few ideas and I picked up some painters tape to help with the straight lines I am thing of. But until I have a firm idea I don’t want to do too much on it only to maybe have to take it out. I just realized that I never posted a picture of the finished top. Here it is.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbuv8UJVjtqjVhSFyD-Q09U29qzjehi4AAakgQw8F3NhVaAcdT1PQBfJdXOqYJfk_3tPZIcjeDl4iUV6wlbdISALArt0z0mMv2zgbDVwQaigccz4AxcCGH348EMySkxmoqQNZugAVAprh-HX52cEkAY7maz_iV98WwJ0mIK-T8zJCtcwURF3Gzqn6sJDj6/s3024/IMG_1908.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2649" data-original-width="3024" height="350" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbuv8UJVjtqjVhSFyD-Q09U29qzjehi4AAakgQw8F3NhVaAcdT1PQBfJdXOqYJfk_3tPZIcjeDl4iUV6wlbdISALArt0z0mMv2zgbDVwQaigccz4AxcCGH348EMySkxmoqQNZugAVAprh-HX52cEkAY7maz_iV98WwJ0mIK-T8zJCtcwURF3Gzqn6sJDj6/w400-h350/IMG_1908.jpeg" width="400" /></a> It was difficult to get the whole thing into a picture, so it is slightly crooked.</p><p>I’ll link up to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2024/03/slow-sunday-stitching_0494723281.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a>.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-41126823470358185692024-03-03T11:42:00.000-05:002024-03-03T11:42:08.839-05:00Slow Sunday Stitching. <p> My main focus this past week, besides finishing up some Prayers and Squares quilts, has been getting My Tweets ready for the basting and hand quilting stage. I got all the missing leaves added to the centre block and last evening started putting it all together with the sashing fabric I purchased a couple of weeks ago.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzJ26kY31PQ_mWSpQkzEsg_ID9rzyS9W3SxQPVPEdgesN9K2kEcbnv1Cpzey3OJwA-wDJDd269Js-KPM2fPrEYhijf9YKy8gBOyC0nk8GdNDM_ECmjik2wmGxxxr6CEtDkWdW4I6bWbPJ9lCKh4EE8SM4JA6wGtgUvsCip24G3x-Heb4DtIZHPdzvhQWT9/s2942/IMG_1904.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2942" data-original-width="1850" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzJ26kY31PQ_mWSpQkzEsg_ID9rzyS9W3SxQPVPEdgesN9K2kEcbnv1Cpzey3OJwA-wDJDd269Js-KPM2fPrEYhijf9YKy8gBOyC0nk8GdNDM_ECmjik2wmGxxxr6CEtDkWdW4I6bWbPJ9lCKh4EE8SM4JA6wGtgUvsCip24G3x-Heb4DtIZHPdzvhQWT9/w251-h400/IMG_1904.jpeg" width="251" /></a> Oh how I am loving this!! I took it with me to the Prayers and Squares group on Thursday so that I could lay it out and get an idea of placement of the blocks and distribution of colours. I took a picture to remind myself of the decision.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgubFZSb4hu4yT5yzr3QUWjSrxfZXgIl0L-qfTlyLqhquatEKmnxavHQt7veDZWEJkaJWyNrGVEcGOPM7zJb93nrtMGBwCu6MfbXNuhxz7eImxOfkOFqySl7hbYsLnEuyHz2AS_tgFl9VFVhpdYDbMU7skP2vWJDAI-pB9Iq9KiTGcqMdmavCgiu8TRNLLz/s4032/IMG_1900.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgubFZSb4hu4yT5yzr3QUWjSrxfZXgIl0L-qfTlyLqhquatEKmnxavHQt7veDZWEJkaJWyNrGVEcGOPM7zJb93nrtMGBwCu6MfbXNuhxz7eImxOfkOFqySl7hbYsLnEuyHz2AS_tgFl9VFVhpdYDbMU7skP2vWJDAI-pB9Iq9KiTGcqMdmavCgiu8TRNLLz/s320/IMG_1900.jpeg" width="240" /></a> I would love to be able to get the rest of this sewn together today. After that I’ll have to get a big table set up so I can layer and baste it ready for hand quilting. I bought myself a new stand and hoop from Amazon - this one <a href="https://www.amazon.ca/Edmunds-18-Inch-Quilters-Wonder-Floor/dp/B000P0P3UC/ref=sr_1_25?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.lK--Ed9oqm3KAtLZ9_kw-p0shfmR0P8QHm2a66stmvFA62ym4eoj3S8LyVP43cqhQHKRoQdnn2fKeWXRoYaECfVBgUGa3bp7QLr6P84jaPCLGZjbCgIcfS9PW2JJBeJ67ENYgSp9alsDGHbDGGhdyKulQxSzBiTdpra2epj6162_cSoN5q_daIX9OH_ccQ6VRnX81-HGiHFUx72KMZLHCqoM6MpUFZo0convSafXrsd0OF1Hu7SpCP0goo1V4tqfnO-J6NlLhkNp_UC1uXj8DU8zEMbberP1kwsedlpyHuo.u76Q1RQzswS-GRroO4vVep6CGF6JEn8Q6VmxD0GDTSQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=Edmunds&qid=1709483711&sr=8-25">here</a>. It is currently still in its box waiting assembly. If I get as far as getting this layered today, that will have to be the next step. It is all very exciting.</p><p>I’ll link up to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2024/03/slow-sunday-stitching.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-4202679042088843932024-02-28T21:41:00.000-05:002024-02-28T21:41:12.668-05:00What we are working on.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p> This past week for Prayers and squares saw 3 quilt as you go tops finished and ready for binding. I’ve used up every small scrap I had here. I’m hoping to pick up more batting off the roll at the church tomorrow, providing we are able to get together then. The weather here has taken a really nasty turn, from spring pouring rain this morning to flash freezing temperatures and snow tonight. So that’s done and I can even wear them today. I’ve had a couple of coordinating skeins of Alegria fingering yarn sitting here for quite a while. There was enough to do a scarf or shawl, but I don’t really need another scarf or shawl and there wasn’t enough to do a sweater and matching either of the skeins was going to be difficult. My dear friend Gail, aka The Cozy Quilter, gave me a gift certificate to a local yarn store here in Huntsville, just 5 minutes down the road, so I got the idea to see if there was anything there that would coordinate that I could use to do alternate rounds in a sweater to make a combined fabric. It turns out that there was. So I got the skeins wound up into cakes and started on the sweater yesterday. I think it is going to work really well. I already had the green and the light yarn with the greens and orange in it. The skein I picked up has all the colours of the top skein, minus the green. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3mOG24ID5g3uRjecpqooyjBqoT3qeieq3aZl8UoV1iCi71H_4Cf0cBDKnVu8_hlFNJX1iCIBl-XJ_Sl9rsKoUs9qTdC41edOdOh98S2ps6zHs1o7L8Lpe6Pi0bucXbRsrfgSQJz6wkWMrbpoSRjuPlsWvv0sqamFQUY0OCm9ltaBo6rO6JX11CBwTj27S/s3255/IMG_1894.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2649" data-original-width="3255" height="260" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3mOG24ID5g3uRjecpqooyjBqoT3qeieq3aZl8UoV1iCi71H_4Cf0cBDKnVu8_hlFNJX1iCIBl-XJ_Sl9rsKoUs9qTdC41edOdOh98S2ps6zHs1o7L8Lpe6Pi0bucXbRsrfgSQJz6wkWMrbpoSRjuPlsWvv0sqamFQUY0OCm9ltaBo6rO6JX11CBwTj27S/s320/IMG_1894.jpeg" width="320" /></a>While I was in the yarn shop, because I had explained to her what I was planning on doing, the sales lady mentioned a technique called Helical knitting that seamlessly blends alternating yarns together. I did a you tube search and the technique works really well.</p><p>I also had big plans this past week to take the centre block of My Tweets to the church where there are large cutting matts that I could use to trim it up to the right size. It occurred to me that I should check the block against the picture of the pattern just to make sure I hadn’t forgotten anything. It turns out that it is missing quite a few leaves. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3JG8B4iAE24dDKYzysSYdYQ5srT365yB0DphzbN5oc-fsIPvKa7TD2neKzs3cMgAWCvNTFkiy0SaYnlQccyDdyc7zxcTy7JSgmWValSu0BMsvx4vXVrM1Ae8w4p72CLj8zcC4uzbHCjq3DfV9cQ5KwHgliLFisGJ-tSvErXkD9uk0_wa8RHLsvPQWqw8c/s2307/IMG_1893.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2263" data-original-width="2307" height="394" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3JG8B4iAE24dDKYzysSYdYQ5srT365yB0DphzbN5oc-fsIPvKa7TD2neKzs3cMgAWCvNTFkiy0SaYnlQccyDdyc7zxcTy7JSgmWValSu0BMsvx4vXVrM1Ae8w4p72CLj8zcC4uzbHCjq3DfV9cQ5KwHgliLFisGJ-tSvErXkD9uk0_wa8RHLsvPQWqw8c/w400-h394/IMG_1893.jpeg" width="400" /></a>So those will have to be done before I can trim it and start adding on the sashing and the other blocks. Getting the leaves traced and ready for appliqué is going to be part of today’s slow stitching. </p><p>I’ll link up to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2024/02/slow-sunday-stitching_02101902145.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-42725471065423798852024-02-21T09:23:00.000-05:002024-02-21T09:23:02.867-05:00What we are working on<p> As usual, our Prayers and Squares group is busy. It seems as soon as we get a quilt done there is a recipient for it. So for the past 3 meetings 2 of us have been going through our fabrics and cutting for kits. I think we now have about 8 kits fully cut and ready for assembly. That should help with getting them quickly sewn together. In the past it has always been a challenge to pull together something for everyone to work on. Hopefully this will help. We had a few more quilts go out this week. Two quilts for little toddlers <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2oZWJN3Jumw0hp1C-cEhT7V71OEE5sxSraLAQ8TWNsm29YWu30nLvtnZafqJLFqxzG7aw4QqhfSakO4YyHG-QK_qakBHDKpEfBxp7AEq6w8YkaA7-0CTvPDDCMKQYP2cgjHikusPDrluv38cy-TJstuwEdRor2bZm8ozj4meDdVa1Qgc58t1fkZm36lDa/s3258/IMG_1871.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3258" data-original-width="2415" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2oZWJN3Jumw0hp1C-cEhT7V71OEE5sxSraLAQ8TWNsm29YWu30nLvtnZafqJLFqxzG7aw4QqhfSakO4YyHG-QK_qakBHDKpEfBxp7AEq6w8YkaA7-0CTvPDDCMKQYP2cgjHikusPDrluv38cy-TJstuwEdRor2bZm8ozj4meDdVa1Qgc58t1fkZm36lDa/s320/IMG_1871.jpeg" width="237" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhskXrO2QiWaxt7P3X0TsastD2INs9fXyA9JnpyFclrseU-EEt9T626qMMMopeQP8PJx8B50_M8ivA1Jhp9U_xGWGfS-__mO8k5iYGK_zw_pJm1HpB9fdAyQ6KpmWAaSoeDcnob0jgvJtRNe2i1ydL0rYvgtqiIR7c4h6iZVRjyRjUpEK2vi413UASiWifz/s3152/IMG_1870.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3152" data-original-width="2452" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhskXrO2QiWaxt7P3X0TsastD2INs9fXyA9JnpyFclrseU-EEt9T626qMMMopeQP8PJx8B50_M8ivA1Jhp9U_xGWGfS-__mO8k5iYGK_zw_pJm1HpB9fdAyQ6KpmWAaSoeDcnob0jgvJtRNe2i1ydL0rYvgtqiIR7c4h6iZVRjyRjUpEK2vi413UASiWifz/s320/IMG_1870.jpeg" width="249" /></a>and 2 adult lap quilts.</p><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfYYGinUBwETi6_ua5GBWWT2VphLu0sVjzFvRwCR7fqffuQhFSI02lnIe1V2zJlHHHgFBLJkfYZdiJdMOVt2jGdzGG5gTsfD8ERQeeyf2QsOqqxwSl7BQNlkrAPRCtb7x9b_zLMLXWNKZaH2DGwtHq5P-iBE_k9eAhD9b2ICdCrVLYojux8KreJh8rR7_a/s3444/IMG_1885.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3444" data-original-width="2773" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfYYGinUBwETi6_ua5GBWWT2VphLu0sVjzFvRwCR7fqffuQhFSI02lnIe1V2zJlHHHgFBLJkfYZdiJdMOVt2jGdzGG5gTsfD8ERQeeyf2QsOqqxwSl7BQNlkrAPRCtb7x9b_zLMLXWNKZaH2DGwtHq5P-iBE_k9eAhD9b2ICdCrVLYojux8KreJh8rR7_a/s320/IMG_1885.jpeg" width="258" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnYmEHsYfoT9xd6Y798qz5MA5Llpb6Z8FYWNY3OTQlQiwdT-X3oE3TCZ3N0bnhbc23hqr4aZNv5No8IGAp8KCWKU3sQFnnwewXGODI0Q55at-PALpwdzDKIgm1xEzCjQ7ioTVM8iWnyUEm3Giv8S_BqX2rp25GD0zN_16nNK73MrMSeNUwgyHx7yfWg3-X/s2944/IMG_1884.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2944" data-original-width="2681" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnYmEHsYfoT9xd6Y798qz5MA5Llpb6Z8FYWNY3OTQlQiwdT-X3oE3TCZ3N0bnhbc23hqr4aZNv5No8IGAp8KCWKU3sQFnnwewXGODI0Q55at-PALpwdzDKIgm1xEzCjQ7ioTVM8iWnyUEm3Giv8S_BqX2rp25GD0zN_16nNK73MrMSeNUwgyHx7yfWg3-X/s320/IMG_1884.jpeg" width="291" /></a></p><p>In the meantime I brought home some of the kits so I could work on them here, I found a cute, but simple to sew together quilt called <a href="https://www.sewthankful.com/Baby-Bentley-quilt-sewing-pattern-Cotton-Street-Commons.html">Baby Bently</a>. It actually took longer to cut out than to sew. We had some of the Forest animals border panels left and they fit perfectly into this design. I also had some cat border panel fabrics here that worked well for this design. There are side borders of migrating geese to add to the woodland panels and then it will be ready to hand off to someone else for binding. It was done in the quilt as you go method which makes quilting these on domestic machines much easier. </p><p>I’m linking up to <a href="https://www.quiltfabrication.com/2024/02/midweek-makers-423.html">Mid Week Makers</a></p><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-nuRRFy7Z_j49zuGnQL25ul67rOrepPyfJvvD0XwM5Lf7XH_I02qZJTUxoF8DUDs8cNUSPHR9v9P_7hZS5Pk05oISxA8u4NYpN70fRoBwJauCYpTwSULcoQkl0Wg6fJhaubK6npbJuJj57PahaeKcgI7fN1w2KLb_6zZQZQNY9TcchJFXcSVbv1_YlHUy/s3627/IMG_1887.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3627" data-original-width="2783" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-nuRRFy7Z_j49zuGnQL25ul67rOrepPyfJvvD0XwM5Lf7XH_I02qZJTUxoF8DUDs8cNUSPHR9v9P_7hZS5Pk05oISxA8u4NYpN70fRoBwJauCYpTwSULcoQkl0Wg6fJhaubK6npbJuJj57PahaeKcgI7fN1w2KLb_6zZQZQNY9TcchJFXcSVbv1_YlHUy/s320/IMG_1887.jpeg" width="246" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXDTM_VFqtXn3dOTvRrKPn3T-Cm_Kc9VhBrKMgW8JnNKVngzE47OuliYo7F_C7Cisr7Mi9gdIzTOFRWfHAhe5oEFj1Qh8HBLGM1VeJbL8MNAhyphenhyphenYbUDCl4bMY0XyEEoOpX2Uoe9oIx40Vi1G3amQt4ZAnnaUiAEEQNx6TdnaN7jpWC7S1VCu7Vo8bCdnO-v/s2758/IMG_1880.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2758" data-original-width="2752" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXDTM_VFqtXn3dOTvRrKPn3T-Cm_Kc9VhBrKMgW8JnNKVngzE47OuliYo7F_C7Cisr7Mi9gdIzTOFRWfHAhe5oEFj1Qh8HBLGM1VeJbL8MNAhyphenhyphenYbUDCl4bMY0XyEEoOpX2Uoe9oIx40Vi1G3amQt4ZAnnaUiAEEQNx6TdnaN7jpWC7S1VCu7Vo8bCdnO-v/s320/IMG_1880.jpeg" width="319" /></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-45322726799933504002024-02-18T10:13:00.000-05:002024-02-18T10:13:08.231-05:00Slow Sunday Stitching<p> What is the saying about the best laid plans? I had plans to get all the hand stitching done on My Tweets. Some friends and I went fabric shopping last Wednesday and I bought the fabrics for the sashing and backing for My Tweets. I had wanted to get the stitching finished and get a start on trimming up the blocks and adding the sashing to them. Not a stitch was done. Of course, I could blame it on the continuing renovations and the necessity of getting all my stuff out of the bedroom in order to lay the new floor which left very little time and no energy at the end of the day for anything except mindless sock knitting. Yep, that sounds good. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. So, one “frankensock" is done and the second one started.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEibHQva6rbKDyR4MaRCoKn6aLd0RoD30UGlDQbWwXJpijKdf0GBIHEELOsylGM9WSZle4gJvyGyrdUepdeV97oJZdpD7TEwZ9hX6iTnwO5vmYr6nlktZzcCL4-m2vK_1IQPIx7EZe6AFe5uMoIWSWftcGnCUORIAXm5_JyQZI6Hwyvsn6Dyrl2aaWk7y3/s3326/IMG_1882.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3326" data-original-width="2633" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEibHQva6rbKDyR4MaRCoKn6aLd0RoD30UGlDQbWwXJpijKdf0GBIHEELOsylGM9WSZle4gJvyGyrdUepdeV97oJZdpD7TEwZ9hX6iTnwO5vmYr6nlktZzcCL4-m2vK_1IQPIx7EZe6AFe5uMoIWSWftcGnCUORIAXm5_JyQZI6Hwyvsn6Dyrl2aaWk7y3/w316-h400/IMG_1882.jpeg" width="316" /></a> I’m almost to the second colour on the second sock.</p><p>I’ll link up to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2024/02/slow-sunday-stitching_0752385471.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-41630533277324138172024-02-11T10:59:00.000-05:002024-02-11T10:59:54.029-05:00Slow Sunday Stitching<p> I haven’t made any further progress on the My Tweets block. I’ve stalled out for some reason, although I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s just I’ve been too tired in the evenings, which is when I do most of my hand stitching. I made a small start on my new cross stitch project, only to stall out on that as well. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2XVm-OmBz4JaaCJD29RLh-Dh8VFsD4QuCNKI6Yo37c1nCPMHJc07TIVi9KyGO8pNfk2kaQj8f4I4MLGxTrG2z_2FexgIAC7p3i1LS9SgMCksEkP8XSuqS25EREWzd7eiH8FJoMq8063YuBxlelXHZ2Dg-_JO2_c2YHHaMqnwkxOEyZOXAh74sn1V4GEEQ/s4032/IMG_1877.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2XVm-OmBz4JaaCJD29RLh-Dh8VFsD4QuCNKI6Yo37c1nCPMHJc07TIVi9KyGO8pNfk2kaQj8f4I4MLGxTrG2z_2FexgIAC7p3i1LS9SgMCksEkP8XSuqS25EREWzd7eiH8FJoMq8063YuBxlelXHZ2Dg-_JO2_c2YHHaMqnwkxOEyZOXAh74sn1V4GEEQ/w640-h480/IMG_1877.jpeg" width="640" /></a>The chart is difficult to see and difficult to hold onto while stitching. I usually scan the charts into my computer and then import them into a knitting program I have called knit companion. However, the printer was unplugged, waiting for a place to put it; renovations you know, affect the most mundane things. However, the printer now has a place to live and I was able to get that chart uploaded. So I can perhaps do more on that in the days to come.</p><p>So what is a lady to do when there is nothing else to occupy her hands..... start a new pair of socks. I had some leftovers from various previous pairs of socks, all having shades of grey in them. So I got out my digital scale and divided them up into equal amounts for a pair of “frankensocks”. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcGsRA-u2bEIDvYmoZvURdVCKprAG792E9a8iZSBmzJx2xr3RzsnhqdzvEgzS1de6LDSKJZoRrqDkvWZoQjfDXpe5JGDuuL7UgMCSVKa_7ig2b5CD1rkNNUMgnWru3mBshZ7Nl44fdwCF17n1WDNaw5i1_09p4RzsjM6XA-jSM737pFDnZqc9iElbTJSPN/s3345/IMG_1878.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3345" data-original-width="2150" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcGsRA-u2bEIDvYmoZvURdVCKprAG792E9a8iZSBmzJx2xr3RzsnhqdzvEgzS1de6LDSKJZoRrqDkvWZoQjfDXpe5JGDuuL7UgMCSVKa_7ig2b5CD1rkNNUMgnWru3mBshZ7Nl44fdwCF17n1WDNaw5i1_09p4RzsjM6XA-jSM737pFDnZqc9iElbTJSPN/w259-h400/IMG_1878.jpeg" width="259" /></a>I don’t really need any more socks, although the ones I made when I first started into socks are getting thin at the toes and heels. I did do some research a while back on how to replace worn spots in socks, but I think I’d rather just make new ones. </p><p>I’ll link up with Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2024/02/slow-sunday-stitching.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a>.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-58486552483579859392024-02-04T14:11:00.001-05:002024-02-04T14:11:42.203-05:00Slow Sunday Stitching<p> A finish for the My Tweets quilt blocks is so close. I prepped all the leaves for this last block and glue basted them into place. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivqCm3zTyNnCS7Qhn7V_DyreaR0KqO8DypaX0fmOdBk2gmywK_UUXb_B07neQ7lx6Av8hjxWdUcjF6zg9wvt3hNR0Cfo40fjVfJktykUx9HxmTmgeQyUeXNTvk0-6UiKB0q22tPuSQ880uRTc2atEksrAl57womXynLKZnKMWyE-Au6JzT_PFzvv7PB1th/s2693/IMG_1865.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2552" data-original-width="2693" height="380" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivqCm3zTyNnCS7Qhn7V_DyreaR0KqO8DypaX0fmOdBk2gmywK_UUXb_B07neQ7lx6Av8hjxWdUcjF6zg9wvt3hNR0Cfo40fjVfJktykUx9HxmTmgeQyUeXNTvk0-6UiKB0q22tPuSQ880uRTc2atEksrAl57womXynLKZnKMWyE-Au6JzT_PFzvv7PB1th/w400-h380/IMG_1865.jpeg" width="400" /></a>A few days of stitching shall finish it and then I can go fabric shopping for the sashing and backing. Then I will have to decided how to quilt it, since I know it is going to have to be done by hand. Perhaps a very simple cross hatch so the quilting won’t take away from the appliqué. The hand quilting means that this project will be in my Slow Sunday posts for quite some time to come yet.</p><p>Our kitchen renovations are now finished.....woohoo!! But, now the renovations are moving into the bedroom/sewing room. Which means emptying it out and getting it organized and doing some more purging. It will be lovely when it is done, but it is a bit of a nuisance getting there. I have 2 weeks before it needs to be empty for the floor to be done. I’m assigning myself a small section of the room every day or two so that I don’t end up feeling overwhelmed. And in the meantime I remind myself that the end is in sight.</p><p>I’m linking to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2024/02/sow-sunday-stitching.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-79966362394417539932024-01-31T15:27:00.001-05:002024-01-31T15:27:22.083-05:00What we are working on<p> Our little Prayers and Squares group continues to be quite busy. We have so many requests for quilts. As soon as we get one done it seems to have a person who needs it and out they go. It is such a great ministry and such a marvellous way to be able to share this quilting addiction/obsession thing. We have 3 finishes, or near finishes this past week. There is a motorcycle themed quilt, <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4JRz3dkhzhyphenhyphenWJHtYL8ByRpDXLRnx5EixNYwcAcVGQR0Q1IF4zgN73XBaQxY4pSy74A-dVi5_b01yKWD4EjhZX7TTN6qqbZ5n1wR_YqI1ZAppxMec2oSGxytYs00Qw5etquK0ICwdbFuOz0YARfU3KQ9OVtG8rxwbx3L4l-CFgrXgsdJfqyKkb9a5gSI6c/s2339/IMG_1859.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2339" data-original-width="1920" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4JRz3dkhzhyphenhyphenWJHtYL8ByRpDXLRnx5EixNYwcAcVGQR0Q1IF4zgN73XBaQxY4pSy74A-dVi5_b01yKWD4EjhZX7TTN6qqbZ5n1wR_YqI1ZAppxMec2oSGxytYs00Qw5etquK0ICwdbFuOz0YARfU3KQ9OVtG8rxwbx3L4l-CFgrXgsdJfqyKkb9a5gSI6c/s320/IMG_1859.jpeg" width="263" /></a>a Maple Leaf quilt and a scrap happy quilt. All the pieces, except the leaves are prepped and glue basted in place and the stitching is started. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1s48yXGmjdbPrrQRrNAZICi0H0TzDRHs8qYmQKrwS9Tip0Ybkr4UPlljdjje1qNBZ6-UTN1zJ0GHdfH_d3kWDRfu5VcnYrHcWloc_W3i-UnQoE5vUz6VwGayXt5CGtf6f-W_J0KvRfMOx_LOuU4eVWQNpSsmgoTP5gzpoKOI8K_H3r2An5oLGsSFycRUY/s2788/IMG_1853.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2678" data-original-width="2788" height="385" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1s48yXGmjdbPrrQRrNAZICi0H0TzDRHs8qYmQKrwS9Tip0Ybkr4UPlljdjje1qNBZ6-UTN1zJ0GHdfH_d3kWDRfu5VcnYrHcWloc_W3i-UnQoE5vUz6VwGayXt5CGtf6f-W_J0KvRfMOx_LOuU4eVWQNpSsmgoTP5gzpoKOI8K_H3r2An5oLGsSFycRUY/w400-h385/IMG_1853.jpeg" width="400" /></a>I’m hoping to have all of the appliqué sewn in place by the end of February. Then I can go shopping for sashing and backing. I suspect that this is going to end up hand quilted since I no longer have my long arm. It would need custom quilting to do it justice and there is no way I can afford to pay someone else to do it. Nor can I afford to rent time on a machine to do it. So hand quilting it is. The only other hand stitching I have done is to finish gridding my linen for my next cross stitch piece. But that is totally boring, so I won’t bother with a picture of the gridded fabric. I may get some actual cross stitching done this week and if I do I will post a picture of it next week.</p><p>I’m linking to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2024/01/slow-sunday-stitching_02005148314.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a>.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-6776365240014923062024-01-20T18:52:00.003-05:002024-01-21T10:38:42.347-05:00Slow Sunday Stitching<p> I am almost finished block 11 of My Tweets, a block of the month quilt that dates all the way back to 2011, designed by <a href="https://erinrussek.typepad.com">Erin Russek</a>. I picked this back up sometime back in December, so it’s taken a bit more than a month to get this block almost finished. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyy-L1ZlXkWHR0QVWO-qrzkEYHUEii_GE4MgPmoNjkmbZs_z6z1n6wReYKBQKGur_okW1g9VuTpnEJ6hSjQChKIukMaqFHAVxET5ED9JZrG5XZT-fpWOcRCbkeIZ7llbhEOP55tIAlyvTdkkrZG6LyknRDSPNt0CI1azIT2RXJp6lOMFAFmjvCWDiB1c68/s2093/IMG_1847.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1977" data-original-width="2093" height="379" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyy-L1ZlXkWHR0QVWO-qrzkEYHUEii_GE4MgPmoNjkmbZs_z6z1n6wReYKBQKGur_okW1g9VuTpnEJ6hSjQChKIukMaqFHAVxET5ED9JZrG5XZT-fpWOcRCbkeIZ7llbhEOP55tIAlyvTdkkrZG6LyknRDSPNt0CI1azIT2RXJp6lOMFAFmjvCWDiB1c68/w400-h379/IMG_1847.jpeg" width="400" /></a>There are just three circles left to stitch down up in the right hand corner and this one will go into the finished box of finished blocks. I’ve started gridding a new piece of linen for a new cross stitch piece. But I won’t bother with a picture of that since it’s not very interesting or exciting. </p><p>I’ll link up to Kathy’s<a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2024/01/slow-sunday-stitching_01608846556.html"> Slow Sunday Stitching</a> in the morning.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-64428584802936409212023-12-24T10:00:00.000-05:002023-12-24T10:00:11.203-05:00Slow Sunday Stitching<p> Our little Prayers and Squares quilting and knitting group has decided to do a UFO challenge next year. We are going to do it a bit differently than most and just choose 6 rather than the traditional 12 UFOs. We will work on each for 2 months rather than the traditional 1 month. My oldest UFO is <a href="https://eagleswingsquilts.blogspot.com/search/label/My%20Tweets">My Tweets</a>. I started it way back in 2011 as an appliqué block of the month designed by Erin Russek of <a href="https://erinrussek.typepad.com/one-piece-at-a-time/2011/01/my-tweets-block-1.html">One Piece at aTime blog</a>. She doesn’t appear to be posting to her blog any more, which is a shame. Anyhow, I pulled out the box of pieces to assess exactly where I was and what is left. From what I can see I am working on the 10th block.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmqSa8jDvAOtO52FlE7zPyPqFJHosDUPP635rkcLy2vxKe8M7dGt0iAD3ueX8kuiXKJrLoeXe7-vWM4xaBVAeATDPY11-bI2xr-x8NYQ1-mOPBHrvgMP-AJ6Qx5tAw8gCj3xFsE-VgL1Ev2ZV2YeV0d8k4ut2ylDWgNiZU_6x1AXceMZA_bsK48iKI4LZc/s2630/IMG_1831.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2616" data-original-width="2630" height="399" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmqSa8jDvAOtO52FlE7zPyPqFJHosDUPP635rkcLy2vxKe8M7dGt0iAD3ueX8kuiXKJrLoeXe7-vWM4xaBVAeATDPY11-bI2xr-x8NYQ1-mOPBHrvgMP-AJ6Qx5tAw8gCj3xFsE-VgL1Ev2ZV2YeV0d8k4ut2ylDWgNiZU_6x1AXceMZA_bsK48iKI4LZc/w400-h399/IMG_1831.jpeg" width="400" /></a> I haven’t checked yet, but I am hoping that I printed out the patterns for the 11th and 12th because they don’t seem to be available any longer. If I didn’t I can probably improvise a couple of blocks of my own using elements from previous blocks which I’m pretty sure I still have. This is simple stitching which doesn’t take a lot of concentration, so it is suitable for working on in the evenings, as long as I have my good light and my magnifying glasses. It’s a busy and joyful time of year, so easy stitching is a good thing. All our gifts are wrapped. The menu for Christmas day is settled and the cooking assigned out so that one person isn’t doing all the work. I want to wish all of you who read here who celebrate this miracle of Christmas to have a joy filled Christmas and a happy New Year.</p><p>I’m linking to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2023/12/slow-sunday-stitching_0305433162.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-16230334335338301122023-12-10T15:24:00.001-05:002023-12-10T15:24:35.983-05:00Slow Sunday Stitching<p> Most of my slow stitching time over the past couple of weeks has been taken up with mindless sock knitting. I started and finished a pair of socks. I took the last stitches in them last night and decided to wear them today. Here they are in their sock modelling debut.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl_VZxET8G049ohF-U9vUAqZHVTE8p27okz57L6JcPVFJoMuMK1auoXjWCysmm5IX3uTjH1fNOIgN9AX9qj9skTGMt7XBkHQlwiJth0flZGFDbSO2rkB06Xk6tYBS6w739cOwSnrv5H30Mlong9reLlJaFNAzYTJ0RLUmmRgTFfN6sz61iyFZs9IrFAdLa/s3477/IMG_1824.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3477" data-original-width="2920" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl_VZxET8G049ohF-U9vUAqZHVTE8p27okz57L6JcPVFJoMuMK1auoXjWCysmm5IX3uTjH1fNOIgN9AX9qj9skTGMt7XBkHQlwiJth0flZGFDbSO2rkB06Xk6tYBS6w739cOwSnrv5H30Mlong9reLlJaFNAzYTJ0RLUmmRgTFfN6sz61iyFZs9IrFAdLa/s320/IMG_1824.jpeg" width="269" /></a></p><p>And then I did the tiniest bit more on the hardanger lace section of my Quilting Bee Sampler. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsYCtJiq7IPjj3oA2lI8yf_ujZXG4NZxhI12G5qAZ43DNOZ3f0jdbIoF4p1fRuK0LXoUHViHvwz7FLPvbfTLklp3KqKf2TwGnF7yh86kCdZ7E7vpiVwTbzZbv6Xv8wKFHuFCUbo2hCPgwk_XGTS2GGALQ_Obtm0FFP4JrfyVkUVWsk_BAf5BrRCVpM7pE0/s3994/IMG_1825.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2203" data-original-width="3994" height="221" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsYCtJiq7IPjj3oA2lI8yf_ujZXG4NZxhI12G5qAZ43DNOZ3f0jdbIoF4p1fRuK0LXoUHViHvwz7FLPvbfTLklp3KqKf2TwGnF7yh86kCdZ7E7vpiVwTbzZbv6Xv8wKFHuFCUbo2hCPgwk_XGTS2GGALQ_Obtm0FFP4JrfyVkUVWsk_BAf5BrRCVpM7pE0/w400-h221/IMG_1825.jpeg" width="400" /></a>By the time I get to it most evenings my brain is too foggy to concentrate on it or I’m watching something that requires watching rather than listening. I just might settle in this afternoon and put on a program I’m familiar with and listen while I stitch. I would like to get this one finished.</p><p>I’m linking up to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2023/12/slow-sunday-stitching.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-19665242042726881152023-12-06T11:39:00.000-05:002023-12-06T11:39:16.109-05:00What we are working on<p> Our Prayers and Squares group are so close to a couple of finishes. I have a small amount of baking to do today but I’m hoping to get the quilt finished in between the timer on the oven.</p><p>I’ll link up to <a href="https://www.quiltfabrication.com/2023/12/midweek-makers-412.html">Mid Week Makers</a></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-16817513933981700652023-11-29T15:38:00.003-05:002023-11-29T15:38:29.402-05:00What We’re Working on<p> We finished another quilt this past week, other than the hand stitching on the binding. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdJYdPvUSrRXS-T-NZOv7H5TongmQXykSgBgzzaq1ww1r8UwfUg8wsCDj0gu6XX_nZMyAMX5M90nyLFprLS4iAJNzkGQJg0rUiWubNRWLYDzHyjr1B_xMiNw_lBqRJ7GpYKb3q_ThzBxpFbJI8K7DNWUWyPnQ7rEpse6YxXqNZsFbpNxrsWwaP66oUnI6a/s3024/IMG_1812.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1942" data-original-width="3024" height="259" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdJYdPvUSrRXS-T-NZOv7H5TongmQXykSgBgzzaq1ww1r8UwfUg8wsCDj0gu6XX_nZMyAMX5M90nyLFprLS4iAJNzkGQJg0rUiWubNRWLYDzHyjr1B_xMiNw_lBqRJ7GpYKb3q_ThzBxpFbJI8K7DNWUWyPnQ7rEpse6YxXqNZsFbpNxrsWwaP66oUnI6a/w400-h259/IMG_1812.jpeg" width="400" /></a>And I’m making good progress on the Atlanta Garden Sampler, where the blocks are available on Barbara Brackman’s Civil War blog and also <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/1359418637/atlanta-garden-12-pieced-beginner-blocks">here</a> on her Etsy shop. I’ve gone a little rogue on this one. I didn’t like November’s block and December’s is going to have curved pieced Drunkard’s Path type blocks which I didn’t want to do. So I substituted a couple from the Electric Quilt libraries.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPmSJP6NQJ_tNHVrWw1U9VUTltoTk-Ond6nhIfKfqrGe5PwdFi0qdOVqsAzOvKaFV7WsRwNn_bbDWu2E5zpbbqT_S4my0XURPAJddjBw6pd3N0UesTU8zTvKVM64lL_UleYjvhu5tVV2j2de2GR3-0rv8DoFlw3I7o5oOMAQjv3B74zxVUgW3Mkct3E6Gu/s3024/IMG_1813.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1626" data-original-width="3024" height="215" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPmSJP6NQJ_tNHVrWw1U9VUTltoTk-Ond6nhIfKfqrGe5PwdFi0qdOVqsAzOvKaFV7WsRwNn_bbDWu2E5zpbbqT_S4my0XURPAJddjBw6pd3N0UesTU8zTvKVM64lL_UleYjvhu5tVV2j2de2GR3-0rv8DoFlw3I7o5oOMAQjv3B74zxVUgW3Mkct3E6Gu/w400-h215/IMG_1813.jpeg" width="400" /></a> I've started on the quilt as you go process, using pieced sashing between the blocks to carry over the turquoise found in the centre of each block.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZzgOt96HzHiVpA0PVRfJwI1XaCbWUVrL1fv4PFwm_1Xay2yZZmTIdbwFlz6y5HzO242peQ92O5mLLJ_6u1aTGvcZn5iYMD5G_Kgif9TA52rt1WENj3MATKyRZzvStten5PMHiktKAgry41Uee6A_Sz_-vWG0lQC2R01KtrPnGtgeE8sfKLIeY-RfuhyOf/s3928/IMG_1817.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1538" data-original-width="3928" height="156" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZzgOt96HzHiVpA0PVRfJwI1XaCbWUVrL1fv4PFwm_1Xay2yZZmTIdbwFlz6y5HzO242peQ92O5mLLJ_6u1aTGvcZn5iYMD5G_Kgif9TA52rt1WENj3MATKyRZzvStten5PMHiktKAgry41Uee6A_Sz_-vWG0lQC2R01KtrPnGtgeE8sfKLIeY-RfuhyOf/w400-h156/IMG_1817.jpeg" width="400" /></a> As usual, the quilting process is slow going, but so much easier on the neck and shoulders and back than doing the quilting all at once on a big quilt. This one is going to measure 62 x 62 inches square when done. I was hoping to get more done on this one today, but there was a snow squall warning out for our area so school was cancelled. The original alternate plan because of the snow day was for Abbie and I to do some baking of muffins. But somehow the "Abbie and I" ended up just “I" as she decided playing with Papa was more fun. She may have been right. I did up 3 different muffin recipes.... Pumpkin Chocolate Chip and Blueberry Oatmeal both of which got baked up. Then I mixed up a batch of Six Week Raisin Bran muffins to go in the fridge to bake up in the next few weeks. And now I’m all tuckered out. </p><p>I’ll link up to <a href="https://www.quiltfabrication.com/2023/11/midweek-makers-411.html">Mid Week Makers</a>.</p><p><br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-58605689683217065102023-11-26T15:29:00.004-05:002023-11-26T15:29:29.132-05:00Slow Sunday Stitching<p> I managed to dig around in the spare bedroom upstairs that is acting as our storage facility while our renovations down here are happening and I found my Quilters’ Bee cross stitch sampler.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWyJcJ0SMPvJCktPW7POSs5m6Ht77mYIeznAVLK6HwFqcKkxO7SvhPaplRGzSCnuCWWgItVx04GIks9l1V3pUeQ0Ov5gpoaSnVpTX4mGiZOHHcmcgjgSdoiwAlquiFqHRCZR62AyAczAhOkV-rXfca1n4Uh3dIZXvCrQhP7xuk9bN56sbP7tEmuPjNGww9/s3320/IMG_1814.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3320" data-original-width="1770" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWyJcJ0SMPvJCktPW7POSs5m6Ht77mYIeznAVLK6HwFqcKkxO7SvhPaplRGzSCnuCWWgItVx04GIks9l1V3pUeQ0Ov5gpoaSnVpTX4mGiZOHHcmcgjgSdoiwAlquiFqHRCZR62AyAczAhOkV-rXfca1n4Uh3dIZXvCrQhP7xuk9bN56sbP7tEmuPjNGww9/w344-h640/IMG_1814.jpeg" width="344" /></a> I’ve been slowly working my way through the white hardanger lace work at the bottom. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrLnxoaYVBdHGGHIjVJRS6dv0Njso4vp4Nxm3fGIhYQ3z7KatJN9VmqhClZAQv4Z63yjQtLCLxooExoVjhGnL0eifcNqT8HfRMg6LVkqYNp2XOrQonVwF5ybdthooZWcbiBoyMKEznrmhW-OGErXhlL45sQdvAMYAk0uiUXehNv4cL7sTi4EU3AmUmQIPr/s3608/IMG_1815.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3608" data-original-width="2902" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrLnxoaYVBdHGGHIjVJRS6dv0Njso4vp4Nxm3fGIhYQ3z7KatJN9VmqhClZAQv4Z63yjQtLCLxooExoVjhGnL0eifcNqT8HfRMg6LVkqYNp2XOrQonVwF5ybdthooZWcbiBoyMKEznrmhW-OGErXhlL45sQdvAMYAk0uiUXehNv4cL7sTi4EU3AmUmQIPr/w514-h640/IMG_1815.jpeg" width="514" /></a>It is very fiddly and slow going, which is the whole point of slow stitching, so that’s OK. </p><p>And when my brain or my eyes are too fried to be able to concentrate on the cross stitch, I’ve been working on a very simple mindless scrap sock yarn scarf. It is knit on circular needles with all of the yarn joins being in the middle where they won’t be seen and therefore don’t need to be neatly woven in. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAIbr0bRRghl4_VmnEHmSs6NbktUY293_VHGj6jn_Jm0U-8PM0ixA7_bjXu39KPNQYqwqzZsLji100JYyiG08BC6APWgfUgo14yfg8EROFrCiRMclc9jwNgNUHeznIrNEVgRoV5YGvct2iF_tDCmL1xBQrc412Pe_Y9XSBZlTPHq3GxUb9Z-aFBdZyMBOV/s3208/IMG_1816.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3208" data-original-width="2820" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAIbr0bRRghl4_VmnEHmSs6NbktUY293_VHGj6jn_Jm0U-8PM0ixA7_bjXu39KPNQYqwqzZsLji100JYyiG08BC6APWgfUgo14yfg8EROFrCiRMclc9jwNgNUHeznIrNEVgRoV5YGvct2iF_tDCmL1xBQrc412Pe_Y9XSBZlTPHq3GxUb9Z-aFBdZyMBOV/w351-h400/IMG_1816.jpeg" width="351" /></a>It might be close to being done. And of course, I have enough scrap sock yarn here to be able to do another of these. Then again, I may just start another pair of socks.</p><p>I’m linking up to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2023/11/slow-sunday-stitching_0839368701.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-4382596962844054602023-11-22T11:39:00.000-05:002023-11-22T11:39:53.688-05:00What We’re Working on<p> We made great progress last week in our Prayers and Squares projects. We had all the rows of the woodland creatures quilt sewn together last week. We laid it out on the floor to get pictures only to find that one set of rows was sewn on upside down. That was a very definite grrrrrrr moment. So no pictures of that this week. Our scrappy strippy piece is ready for borders to go on the top and bottom and then it can get its binding on and be declared done. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBjaU-89S8yS1MMMZatdnSeRdEjeF7Z2qGbmYqL2RRPJvyuHFfkh-h-eAaWBDkQpeyFpKu5m-sf44g-EqBW3tbhrKcc7kK1MYc3hwa578FKC-Ex1srjtWv7KlPO3YVD4BJnqnSHeQ0xs8guehLY20AQslQQppGYF-wJABMmIf5ePO_-wo5l5qoNkeOyf2V/s2973/IMG_1797.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2610" data-original-width="2973" height="281" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBjaU-89S8yS1MMMZatdnSeRdEjeF7Z2qGbmYqL2RRPJvyuHFfkh-h-eAaWBDkQpeyFpKu5m-sf44g-EqBW3tbhrKcc7kK1MYc3hwa578FKC-Ex1srjtWv7KlPO3YVD4BJnqnSHeQ0xs8guehLY20AQslQQppGYF-wJABMmIf5ePO_-wo5l5qoNkeOyf2V/s320/IMG_1797.jpeg" width="320" /></a>And the quilt I am working on at home has all of the blocks finished and the quilting started on the individual blocks. And I have progress to show for it too, which is always an encouraging thing. The pair of socks I was working on are done up to the point of grafting the toes and sewing in the yarn ends. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRcn63Iarw_StYPB8yT0584WF7Qs6qEJZBXT5ABDB9tPJFMHgMZyo3Tj_mh5PyiMM8K_aS4yeOFtG7Bgjd58wUYWCMv9ElaBsngsZPaWnzaN_O_pAsssqs0Q2GOXlYhntRS6CvAeqlVriBqy8p3svslpjLXMAwopAgKumy47z6RhGJpBbq1OfK1X2x2NzG/s3924/IMG_1798.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3924" data-original-width="2901" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRcn63Iarw_StYPB8yT0584WF7Qs6qEJZBXT5ABDB9tPJFMHgMZyo3Tj_mh5PyiMM8K_aS4yeOFtG7Bgjd58wUYWCMv9ElaBsngsZPaWnzaN_O_pAsssqs0Q2GOXlYhntRS6CvAeqlVriBqy8p3svslpjLXMAwopAgKumy47z6RhGJpBbq1OfK1X2x2NzG/w296-h400/IMG_1798.jpeg" width="296" /></a>And then, even better, the cross stitched hymn that I started back in June is about 6 or 7 stitches away from being finished. There are just a few black stitches to put in to finish the border on the bottom right corner. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZFlUmlj_8I_jg4I90ZrX5HuQLYpPb8mFbNdjlzcrRm5nRJNCS2hgD8N1sfqiuxAlhBHktK04d9tIuEZ9QVtF9u2Zs3F7bxD2ERjT8iCIWuCYInAUL9qniQtAY2cHzfr9DUuoy7_LTqZs45XHx8L3tQchpNGHnBi9e-dkpi1Th399pLTkpTgpls14kUEux/s3311/IMG_1800.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2496" data-original-width="3311" height="482" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZFlUmlj_8I_jg4I90ZrX5HuQLYpPb8mFbNdjlzcrRm5nRJNCS2hgD8N1sfqiuxAlhBHktK04d9tIuEZ9QVtF9u2Zs3F7bxD2ERjT8iCIWuCYInAUL9qniQtAY2cHzfr9DUuoy7_LTqZs45XHx8L3tQchpNGHnBi9e-dkpi1Th399pLTkpTgpls14kUEux/w640-h482/IMG_1800.jpeg" width="640" /></a></p><p>I think after this I am going to go back to my Quilters Bee cross stitch piece and see if I can’t get that one done too, assuming I can find it.</p><p>I’ll link up to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2023/11/slow-sunday-stitching_0653943344.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a> and then go searching for that cross stitch project.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-2263708553219576562023-11-08T10:25:00.002-05:002023-11-09T17:37:22.370-05:00What we’re working on<p> Once again there wasn't enough progress made in our group projects for photos. There is still hand sewing happening on the backs of the quilt as you go projects. And another one needed some repairs done on a panel that was too short. The quilt as you go process is a fairly new one to all of us so we are learning as we go. There should be some good progress made tomorrow which should result in some pictures of near finishes. Three of us did a road trip down to the quilt shop in Minden yesterday called <a href="https://www.remembermequiltsandmore.com">Remember<br />Me Quilts and More</a>. Their prices are really good and they have a good sized clearance section that makes for great prices for backings for all these quilts. </p><p>In the meantime I’ve done some more sewing on the blocks that I am working on here at home. I have 12 done now. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgl1jVo5dS5UO_AcbrvRc6cCYMxxgEaA5Ef_Clxedw1hKOy_jhkajZZmqHnl6X6856eTY4XxdWumJ4OyzHMsewZqZEXGSS-bBxgesvt6x7rQkqEZ6UACk0c7iUEW4Zo5a_aM_8KAvvvvlA5HF9vT2lBXPILnKC2_v_LKFuGRdsiVJcV4_50dk-gZEUJsvwc" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="1623" data-original-width="2395" height="271" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgl1jVo5dS5UO_AcbrvRc6cCYMxxgEaA5Ef_Clxedw1hKOy_jhkajZZmqHnl6X6856eTY4XxdWumJ4OyzHMsewZqZEXGSS-bBxgesvt6x7rQkqEZ6UACk0c7iUEW4Zo5a_aM_8KAvvvvlA5HF9vT2lBXPILnKC2_v_LKFuGRdsiVJcV4_50dk-gZEUJsvwc=w400-h271" width="400" /></a>These will also be done quilt as you go style. I have 8 more blocks to do. They are an Electric quilt block called Flying X. They are simple to do and go together quite quickly. I won’t get a chance to get back to it before Friday though. I’m heading out today to a friend’s place to make a couple of batches of tomato sauce out of the tomatoes that came from the summer garden and also that I bought in 25 pound boxes from the grocery store. They have been stored since then in the freezer, but we need the freezer space emptied, so it’s time to get it made up. </p><p>I’ll link up to <a href="https://www.quiltfabrication.com/2023/11/midweek-makers-408.html">Mid Week Makers</a> and then I’d best get busy and get together all the stuff I need for that tomato sauce marathon.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-45780122883025528582023-11-05T15:39:00.000-05:002023-11-05T15:39:11.055-05:00Slow Sunday Stitching<p> I’m focusing, still, on my warm and fuzzy socks for winter. It’s impossible to have too many pairs of warm wooly socks. There’s something about the first snowfall of the season that triggers the desire to knit socks. We had our first snowfall of a couple of inches on Wednesday. It’s all melted now. So, I’ve made progress on this pair, finishing the first sock and well into the second. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_XwMXe_29EViCQRxx2UXsgodlXTMkLvAu0Y-CQcKOOoquRQShkJMEal2b-QBmPoyTx7dEBH_laO1LLWJV4DvPqX8d0K5ZElnckqWs1hprAq8K4gLsaN-SpYyWU1ci_g4_HEhRcdkppkPxQgytU-kBPyApWFu-oIjfyFBtA15cUOdGi61rvXHV9kuMr_NK/s2973/IMG_1795.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2973" data-original-width="2954" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_XwMXe_29EViCQRxx2UXsgodlXTMkLvAu0Y-CQcKOOoquRQShkJMEal2b-QBmPoyTx7dEBH_laO1LLWJV4DvPqX8d0K5ZElnckqWs1hprAq8K4gLsaN-SpYyWU1ci_g4_HEhRcdkppkPxQgytU-kBPyApWFu-oIjfyFBtA15cUOdGi61rvXHV9kuMr_NK/s320/IMG_1795.jpeg" width="318" /></a>I haven’t decided whether I’m going to work on these this afternoon or if I’m going to make some more quilt blocks. I’ll decide after I link up to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2023/11/slow-sunday-stitching.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-89193247518467070862023-11-01T11:47:00.001-04:002023-11-01T11:47:19.627-04:00What we are working on<p> At our Prayers and Squares group we are continuing to work on getting a couple of projects to the finish point. I don’t have a new picture of the woodland quilt since there was hand work to be done on the backing before it could progress any further. The scrappy stripes is getting closer to being done and might get finished this week. It has two rows left to add and the top and bottom border. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiigo4NSNSLXbQ6HOKHQpMMSZzfNX-rBIT1jzjKLrk7IzaKGFGcluUFGHjbqUFJqmeTLS4jICMs-4BAXhAJJpZGtgyWEhLRaoG6tfju6e9vAyzkTQFwdgTEGd9P97bBk1d1z7YuwRTwWczj_Su-F20oPx7OPZ12ungJOQx4OT_Lw_guCan1rB26OWaxYKne/s2740/IMG_1780.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2740" data-original-width="2361" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiigo4NSNSLXbQ6HOKHQpMMSZzfNX-rBIT1jzjKLrk7IzaKGFGcluUFGHjbqUFJqmeTLS4jICMs-4BAXhAJJpZGtgyWEhLRaoG6tfju6e9vAyzkTQFwdgTEGd9P97bBk1d1z7YuwRTwWczj_Su-F20oPx7OPZ12ungJOQx4OT_Lw_guCan1rB26OWaxYKne/w345-h400/IMG_1780.jpeg" width="345" /></a>Because it is quilt as you go, there are seams to be finished by hand on the back. </p><p>As well as working on these projects during our Thursday afternoons, I’ve been doing a sampler independently at home. I love making samplers. It is finished, except for the hand stitching on the back and the binding.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9PTLb3L03AqPDYb3bVoBNLCVpuwyhO_irsU0nExh3Now0F5WRd5o3BaWzlvQrIYFjqmrTSCkm-vn8yvIWz4G_3ZuOsxWHe3kHmFqLZvayCLC1r9ktWzQq1FtID8IPs1wHKZl1LCudeedb5FdtryUBWfQmqTKZryR7nAti7JmVbQO-2luRc6KuxShjrk76/s2996/IMG_1787.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2844" data-original-width="2996" height="380" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9PTLb3L03AqPDYb3bVoBNLCVpuwyhO_irsU0nExh3Now0F5WRd5o3BaWzlvQrIYFjqmrTSCkm-vn8yvIWz4G_3ZuOsxWHe3kHmFqLZvayCLC1r9ktWzQq1FtID8IPs1wHKZl1LCudeedb5FdtryUBWfQmqTKZryR7nAti7JmVbQO-2luRc6KuxShjrk76/w400-h380/IMG_1787.jpeg" width="400" /></a> It will go off to one of the other ladies for this stage of its being. </p><p>And then, just because I got new fabrics in the mail, I had to start another one that will also go to the Prayers and Squares ministry. It is a very simple block from the Electric Quilt libraries called "Flying X" made from 3 1/2 inch strips. The blocks go together very quickly and let the fabrics shine. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSkZxE2tKiSunSxfHpg3dqssccRgC3DUaW7Dwz1OIXnesMhr9wtN-K-Xd4WVQ68gMG7LDaBj8DlNZzKBAAwxYKWwYgmWORQik-N7IzY9fEu2Vp7auNQTCdoDVr5LujlRA1xZlO6AauD3CBvPEAYFY6N4Fju4WDHsFMm-FTBi-aU4DKngSkvPKDFrAbmr5Z/s2134/IMG_1789.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2134" data-original-width="2117" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSkZxE2tKiSunSxfHpg3dqssccRgC3DUaW7Dwz1OIXnesMhr9wtN-K-Xd4WVQ68gMG7LDaBj8DlNZzKBAAwxYKWwYgmWORQik-N7IzY9fEu2Vp7auNQTCdoDVr5LujlRA1xZlO6AauD3CBvPEAYFY6N4Fju4WDHsFMm-FTBi-aU4DKngSkvPKDFrAbmr5Z/s320/IMG_1789.jpeg" width="317" /></a>They are from a collection called “Backyard”. I very rarely ever buy fabrics that are all from one collection. But this one really called to me and I couldn’t resist.</p><p>I will link up to <a href="https://www.quiltfabrication.com/2023/11/midweek-makers-407.html">Mid Week Makers</a>, finish my second cup of coffee and then get back to more sewing. We got our first snowfall of the season overnight, at least a couple of inches, so it is a good day to stay indoors and play with fabrics and needles and thread.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-64076180128076097212023-10-29T15:40:00.001-04:002023-10-29T15:40:12.178-04:00Slow Sunday Stitching<p> I have two knitting projects currently on the go. One requires thought, the other doesn’t. Hang on and I’ll explain. Our last vehicle, the one the tree fell on and totalled, had a heated steering wheel. I had never had one of those before... what a wonderful invention that was for someone with fibromyalgia and Reynauds Syndrome. My hands get cold and when they get cold, the hurt more than usual. Our new car does not have that feature, so I am having to get creative in ways to keep my hands warm while driving. The obvious answer is a pair of gloves, but that doesn’t work. My fingers need to be all together to keep each other comfy and warm. So the next obvious answer is a pair of mittens. But I find it difficult to drive using mittens. So, I am trying what are called “trigger mittens”. The thumb and first finger will be separate from the rest. They are the thought requiring knitting, due to needing to work with two different colours of yarn which give a double thick mitten.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJIwJx-DwvcHHxZZdchNNwlduQCysQIAR0M49UZG4V9V5zXPyFViMsN4oG_dACjYp4v1VUbmaj8DEad-luiNZz8kKIUeBcJjn8348YgouxnRNxLfTGD_O9z7iInmMTsMvmFSsmKKDst6uUQalW5uxmuAR67tBrmPBL_HPLl9ZtcswJLM6kkVVzQ8r4XdkS/s2440/IMG_1786.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1957" data-original-width="2440" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJIwJx-DwvcHHxZZdchNNwlduQCysQIAR0M49UZG4V9V5zXPyFViMsN4oG_dACjYp4v1VUbmaj8DEad-luiNZz8kKIUeBcJjn8348YgouxnRNxLfTGD_O9z7iInmMTsMvmFSsmKKDst6uUQalW5uxmuAR67tBrmPBL_HPLl9ZtcswJLM6kkVVzQ8r4XdkS/s320/IMG_1786.jpeg" width="320" /></a> And then there are the socks which are the very little thought required knitting. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgezMu5TOlFYXXsrP-Lm3jiGKWovPZxe-R71dMBd9cWHTzKzkKIB8HgM3k8QIgzwUQn7PGBnbJJCyx4rQU8ArzevpA9mTpc3DRvSGXo5FZYJUSj3ARVGH1zLoUOBybfZYAAX4E8iZrHl3WY3Yd1Y1i_L3h_0eT47nA0mBcI5jz5D1ry0-NltFeUIVpGSyM2/s2428/IMG_1783.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1652" data-original-width="2428" height="218" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgezMu5TOlFYXXsrP-Lm3jiGKWovPZxe-R71dMBd9cWHTzKzkKIB8HgM3k8QIgzwUQn7PGBnbJJCyx4rQU8ArzevpA9mTpc3DRvSGXo5FZYJUSj3ARVGH1zLoUOBybfZYAAX4E8iZrHl3WY3Yd1Y1i_L3h_0eT47nA0mBcI5jz5D1ry0-NltFeUIVpGSyM2/s320/IMG_1783.jpeg" width="320" /></a>Except for the actual number of stitches required for turning the heel, I have the pattern memorized and can mostly knit these without even having to look at what I am doing. </p><p>I’ll link up to Kathy’s <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/2023/10/slow-sunday-stitching_02002818879.html">Slow Sunday Stitching</a> and then perhaps will pick up the mittens again.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15392533321876710743noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501866145811920867.post-61652209974557649322023-10-25T11:32:00.002-04:002023-10-25T11:32:38.289-04:00What we are working on<p> I remembered last week at our Prayers and Squares group to stop shortly after 4 pm and take some pictures. It’s a good thing I remembered because, even though I set my phone to go off at about 4:10, I forgot to push the save button, so it didn’t go off. We are working on 2 different quilt as you go projects at the church along with the sampler I am working on at home.</p><p>On one of our shopping trips to a little quilt shop in Minden called <a href="https://www.remembermequiltsandmore.com">Remember Me Quilts and More</a> we found a beautiful border print showing forests and animals similar to what happens here in Muskoka. We have paired the border prints with some friendship stars and some wonderful bright blue fabric.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgDWng5DeheykCYedMq0P8BLJqjrlH5YRig4A6vuDg0scJeZ62LgahTxQWqi3hRTG3aWiqVNT2yReIlb7VSELZhgsQvB2gEpcKxWTCPcy2WojzarpGZDFXcYY8jbgm3Knb2jBu19WwlDnCP53sdrvGBQrZ7HFeV04_tRfF_kIYfwbnCgAIoRHk-fM1iK2iW" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img alt="" data-original-height="3126" data-original-width="3004" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgDWng5DeheykCYedMq0P8BLJqjrlH5YRig4A6vuDg0scJeZ62LgahTxQWqi3hRTG3aWiqVNT2yReIlb7VSELZhgsQvB2gEpcKxWTCPcy2WojzarpGZDFXcYY8jbgm3Knb2jBu19WwlDnCP53sdrvGBQrZ7HFeV04_tRfF_kIYfwbnCgAIoRHk-fM1iK2iW=w309-h320" width="309" /></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgDWng5DeheykCYedMq0P8BLJqjrlH5YRig4A6vuDg0scJeZ62LgahTxQWqi3hRTG3aWiqVNT2yReIlb7VSELZhgsQvB2gEpcKxWTCPcy2WojzarpGZDFXcYY8jbgm3Knb2jBu19WwlDnCP53sdrvGBQrZ7HFeV04_tRfF_kIYfwbnCgAIoRHk-fM1iK2iW" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><br /></a></div> Here’s a close up.
